About FGS GroupFGS Group Ltd operates 3 divisions from its manufacturing base. We operate a team of 35 staff and contractors based just 2 minutes from Auckland's Northern motorway.
Our Divisions are:The Fence and Gate ShopSupplying steel, stainless steel, aluminium and glass products which include fences, balustrades, handrails and gates primarily for the residential market. Automated driveway and security gates are a large component of this division. We install all our products with care. Our site crews have experienced trades people including engineers, builders and electricians. FGS MetalworkSupplying subcontract “metalworks” products for the Construction Industry in the commercial market. Our experienced Project Managers come from a trade background and are fully conversant with the relevant contractual requirements of a project. We work hard to offer a service that compels our clients to continue to use us. Our plant is well able to produce the volume of components necessary on some projects as well as the more unusual “one off” items. A major component of this division is our site complement. We run multiple crews with fully set up plant and equipment to install product as necessary and on time. Our staff are site experienced, follow the required safety requirements and hold current “site safe” passports. We have worked on many large commercial projects around Auckland with Hawkins Construction, Downers (Works), Mainzeal, Multiplex, Fletchers and other Project Management and Construction Companies. FGS StructuralSupplies structural steel products primarily for residential buildings and light commercial projects. Products include beams, posts, portal frames, and architectural structures such as canopies and screens.This division complements the other divisions well. Our key personnel in this division bring to the group a wealth of expertise and knowledge spanning over two decades. As with our metalworks division project management is the key. Attention to detail determines whether a job will go smoothly. Sometimes the job requires liaison with many parties i.e. builder, architect, engineer, pre-nail, pre-cast, joiners etc. Set out drawings may need to be produced for the builder and or other trades. Most fabricators will not go to this much trouble and will put the responsibility entirely on the builder. We consider however, that this is all part of the service. We use quality materials and products, manufactured to meet New Zealand codes and standards within the building industry. All our products and workmanship are guaranteed against defects. In the time we have been operating, the company has built a reputation on good craftsmanship, care and after sales service. Building strong client relationship is the key, verified by the repeat business generated.
FGS HistoryThe Fence & Gate Shop was first established in 1985 by Tony Neal.In 1994, Tony decided to retire and recognizing its potential, Bruce Wilton purchased The Fence and Gate Shop with a view to expanding the company. Tony continued to work for The Fence & Gate Ship for several years to provide continuity to customers. A move to larger premises in Whangaparaoa Road was required and allowed for the growth into Gate Automation and larger Commercial jobs. By the year 2000, a further move to the current premises in Silverdale was required as the business flourished and allowed for expansion into new areas of fabrication and construction in the metalwork and structural markets. Since 1999, Bruce’s son Hudson Wilton had been managing The Fence & Gate Shop whilst Bruce under the wing of The Fence & Gate Shop, concentrated on building a new company that imported gate automation equipment from Italy. Pivotal Solutions was born from this and immediately took off supplying quality automation to the market. Ownership changed in 2004 when Bruce’s sons Troy and Hudson Wilton took over The Fence & Gate Shop business. As the business continued to grow, the need arose to divide the company into three individual divisions to better reflect the product mix catering for both residential and commercial customers. In 2006. the FGS Group Ltd was born with three division branches:
The Fence & Gate Shop continues to supply top quality Fences, Gates and Balustrade to its residential clients. FGS Metalwork supplies a huge range of services to commercial clients including exclusive high end services to the housing market. FGS Structural supplies to both normal residential & high end residential clients and light commercial clients including many schools.
